Steelers Media Voice Fires Major Shot at Browns’ Myles Garrett

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns form one of the biggest rivalries in the NFL. While there is not a lot of love across the AFC North division in general, the Steelers and Browns are without a doubt the most hated rivals in it.

Heading into the 2025 season, the Steelers are widely expected to be much better than the Browns. However, there is one debate that will continue raging on this year.

Myles Garrett and T.J. Watt are two of the best pass rushers in the history of the NFL. There is a big debate about which player is better.

Of course, there has been a lot of media coverage surrounding both players at different points this offseason. Most recently, Watt has been going through a contract situation with Pittsburgh. He wants a new deal, but the two sides have been unable to get one done to this point.

Early on in the offseason, Garrett had publicly demanded a trade from Cleveland. When all was said and done, he rescinded his trade request and signed a massive four-year, $160 million contract extension.

Now, a member of the Steelers' media has spoken out and taken a huge shot at Garrett.

During a recent appearance, Andrew Fillipponi, a radio host from Pittsburgh, spoke out about Watt's contract situation in an appearance on 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland. He took a major jab at Garrett while discussing Watt's desire for a pay raise.

"He's (Watt) using him (Garrett) to get more money, as he should, because he's better than Myles Garrett," Fillipponi said.

Looking at the two players and what they have accomplished in their respective careers, it's a close race. Both pass rushers have put up huge numbers.

Garrett has played in 117 career games, racking up 352 total tackles to go along with 102.5 sacks, 20 forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, and 17 defended passes. He is now 29 years old.

Watt, on the other hand, has appeared in 121 career games. He has racked up 462 tackles, 108 sacks, 33 forced fumbles, 12 fumble recoveries, seven interceptions, and 50 defended passes. Entering the 2025 season, Watt is 30 years old.

Fans will continue having this debate. At the end of the day, both players are all-time greats and have put together great Hall of Fame resumes.

It will be interesting to see what each defensive superstar is able to do in 2025.
