Sky Germany have revealed that Florian Wirtz and his entourage, including his parents and partner, have made the journey to Cologne Bonn Airport, and are now enroute to Liverpool FC to complete the deal.
The 22-year-old is not represented by an external agency but instead his parents, who brokered the deal to Liverpool.
He is to complete his medical today, with it potentially going on to Friday before the move is officially complete.
Depending on who one believes, the Anfield club have reached an agreement to sign Wirtz for a total package valued at £116.5 million – comprising an initial £100 million payment, plus an additional £16.5 million in performance-related bonuses.
The attacker had to cut short his holiday short this week to finalize his deal to Merseyside.
For Bayer Leverkusen, the sale of Wirtz marks a club-record outgoing transfer. The 22-year-old is poised to sign a five-year contract that will keep him at Anfield until 2030.
Fans can look forward to seeing Florian Wirtz fully involved in Liverpool’s pre-season preparations next month as he embarks on his journey with the club he has long admired.
The 22-year-old is expected to join the squad for pre-season training starting on 7 July.
Wirtz is projected to make his debut for Liverpool in the friendly match against Preston North End on 13 July.
