Liverpool are reportedly interested in Newcastle United talisman Alexander Isak.
Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy believes Newcastle United should cash in on star striker Alexander Isak.
In controversial comments that will anger Toon fans, the talkSPORT pundit insisted the Magpies should command a huge fee but ultimately sell their prized asset. The news comes amid speculation linking Isak with a move to Liverpool.
GiveMeSport journalist Ben Jacobs claims the Reds have not given up on their No.1 attacking target. That is despite Liverpool being on the brink of signing Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz.
Newcastle United want to keep Alexander Isak
NewcastleWorld understands there are no plans to sell Isak - and St James’ Park chiefs are in a strong negotiating position. The Swede is tied down until 2028 with no release clause in his contract.
Any offer would need to shatter the British transfer record for Newcastle to begin a conversation with Liverpool. Isak is currently enjoying downtime following a campaign that saw him bag 27 goals across all competitions.
Jason Cundy on Alexander Isak talk
Speaking to talkSPORT, ex-defender Cundy suggested offloading Isak would be the smart move. When asked whether Newcastle should sell, he said: “A million per cent. Look, they're going to get a huge fee for him, Newcastle. They will, right, because he's one of the most sought-after players in Europe. You've seen what he's done in the Premier League.
“You know what you're going to get. He can play in the Premier League. There's no risk, well, there's always a risk but, generally, if he signs for Liverpool, you know he's going to perform.
“In terms of Newcastle, they've got so much money from it, if that's the case. You know, it's not going to be less than £120 million, you'd have thought. I can't imagine it's going to be less than that.
“If the player wants to go and there’s enough money because they have their hands tied behind his back (they should sell). There’s plenty of other players out there - you just have to find them.”
