Report: David Moyes just can't leave him alone as Everton join race to sign £17m striker he bid …

Everton are keeping tabs on a number of strikers this summer transfer window.

With Armando Broja and Dominic Calvert-Lewin leaving Everton, bringing in a centre-forward is evidently a top priority.

Everton are exploring a deal to sign Thierno Barry from Villarreal after his impressive debut season in La Liga.

The Spanish outfit placed a £33m release clause in Barry’s contract, so it’s unlikely he’ll leave for any less than that.

Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade is also on David Moyes’ radar, and he is thought to be valued at a similar price.

Now, a new name is surfacing, and it’s a striker who the Everton manager knows really well as he tabled a bid for him at West Ham United.

Everton join race to sign Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto

Moyes has tracked Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto for a number of years and even tabled a £15m bid during the summer of 2023.

Ultimately, that move failed to materialise, but it’s become evident the Scotsman remains a big admirer of Alberto, who’s netted 70 times in 183 outings for the Brazilian outfit.

That’s because Everton have now joined the race to sign the 24-year-old this summer, according to Spanish outlet AS.

The Toffees are battling Atletico Madrid, and interestingly, the Friedkin Group’s Roma, so there is serious competition.

West Ham are also still circling, with Corinthians willing to sanction his sale for around £17m.

Alberto open to leaving

Speaking in November, Alberto admitted that he is open to leaving Corinthians if a good opportunity presents itself.

“I’m very happy here but, if an offer comes along that’s positive for me and Corinthians and we can reach an agreement for the sale to happen, great,” the Brazil international said.

“If not, I’m happy too. I have a dream and I believe that the longer I stay here, the more mature I’ll be to be able to live in the best way possible.”

The only concern with Alberto is that he’s recovering from a lower back injury, which Meu Timao believe could rule him out for up to 12 weeks, starting from the end of May.

That means he’s likely to miss pre-season, but clearly Moyes and his staff are still willing to go ahead with the potential move.
