“We’ve spoken” – Director confirms talks with Chelsea target, club positive they’ll get what they want

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastien Kehl has admitted they’ve spoken to Jamie Gittens about the Chelsea transfer situation.

[Fussball Transfers](https://www.fussballtransfers.com/a1930092069328302167-bvb-optimismus-bei-gittens-die-huerde-bei-haller) cover comments from him today made at the Club World Cup about the winger after Chelsea’s failed bid to sign him earlier this month.

Gittens is a target for Chelsea this summer and they were locked in negotiations with Borussia Dortmund about a deal to sign him in time for the World Cup. That didn’t happen, though, as the Blues refused to match Dortmund’s demands for €65m.

The failure to get the deal done before the early Club World Cup deadline reportedly left Gittens furious, as he’s determined to move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

And Kehl admits they’ve had conversations about the situation, as he’s now playing for the Bundesliga side at the same tournament.

“We’ve had one or two conversations with Jamie in the last few days,” he said about the 20-year-old.

“He’s professional enough to know he has to perform. That’s also in his nature. Jamie will be important for us in this tournament. And we’ll see what happens after that. But I don’t see him as negative.”

Fussball Transfers then add that Gittens’ departure has, actually, only been postponed by a few weeks. Dortmund and Chelsea are still negotiating the transfer.

In fact, according to information from Ruhr Nachrichten, the Dortmund camp are still ‘very optimistic’ that the deal will go through and Chelsea will pay the €65m Dortmund have asked for.
