“Having spoken to the club…” - Journalist says West Ham planning to sell £330,000-a-week trio

West Ham United are planning on selling Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Paqueta and Tomas Soucek this summer to fund a squad rebuild for Graham Potter, according to TBR Football journalist Graeme Bailey.

The Hammers endured a difficult campaign in 2024/25 as they finished the season in 14th place in the Premier League, as they were forced to sack manager Julen Lopetegui halfway through following a string of poor performances.

Now the former Chelsea and Brighton boss wants to shape the squad in his own image, and is ready to make big changes in personnel to fund that.

After an expensive summer transfer window last time around, the Hammers have a bit of a financial hole they need to fill this summer in order to splurge on the market once more.

That means a key player or two may be moved on to help fund the budget for Potter, and journalist Bailey has revealed that he recently spoke to the club and confirmed that £330,000-a-week trio Paqueta, Kudus and Soucek are all expected to be moved on during the window.

“Having spoken to the club, the massive problem with West Ham is there are financial issues and the club need to sell.

“They need to get players out. Mohammed Kudus is going to be that main sale. We expect Tomas Soucek to go as well.

“Lucas Paqueta will find out within two weeks about his court case, but we’re fully expecting him to be exonerated or at the very least he’ll be able to play Premier League football next season, hence he’ll be able to move.

“They’re the really big three sales and that really is hampering what they want to do in the transfer market.”

Paqueta currently denies any wrongdoing in his spot-fixing case and a decision is set to be made on his future, but he is not expected to be part of the squad next season anyway. Kudus on the other hand has an £85m release clause, but the club are looking for around £65m to let him go and have had interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Soucek is attracting interest from both Leeds United and Everton this summer too as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.
