3 Premier League Free Agents That Arsenal Should Consider This Summer

Arsenal are looking to strengthen their squad depth this summer in the hope to win a Premier League title next season.

The Gunners recently found out that they will start the season with a difficult trip to Old Trafford in August, and they will hope to get off to a good start, with a win against their rivals.

However, in the past season, Mikel Arteta‘s side suffered a lot of injury problems, which they failed to really manage, meaning that Liverpool were able to run away with the Premier League title.

The Arsenal boss will be keen to ensure that he has better squad depth this season, and won’t want the same thing to happen again when his player suffer injuries. So he could decide to look at the free agent market. Here are three players that the Gunners should consider signing this summer.

Victor Lindelof – Man United

Firstly, Man United defender Lindelof is going to become a free agent this summer, and aged just 30, the Swedish international still has plenty left to give in the Premier League.

He has a fantastic amount of experience both in the league and in European competitions, and would be a handy addition to backup the likes of Gabriel and William Saliba.

Gabriel suffered two injuries last season, and so it would be worth Arteta bringing in a centre-back to cover for the Brazilian defender, and Lindelof should be considered.

Kyle Walker-Peters – Southampton

Next up, Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber has had some injury concerns over the past two seasons, only coming back from a serious knee injury last summer.

It may be a good idea for Arteta to get a backup to the Dutchman, especially considering that it looks as though Thomas Partey is leaving the club (he filled in at right-back last season).

Walker-Peters isn’t a top level Premier League player by any means, but he has plenty of experience, and could be useful for some much-needed squad depth in defence.

Christian Eriksen – Man United

Another player leaving Man United, Eriksen has a lot of talent still, despite the fact that he is 33 years-old now. The Danish international could give Arsenal some depth in midfield.

As things stand, next season, Arsenal will have Odegaard, Rice and Merino in midfield, with the likely signing of Zubimendi too.

But behind that, Arteta doesn’t have any other options, so it could be a good move to bring in someone like Eriksen, who can add extra depth behind Arteta’s starters.
