Report: Club World Cup club are now saying chances of Nottingham Forest transfer have hit ‘zero’

Nottingham Forest are going to be looking to strengthen the squad across the pitch this summer.

With the UEFA Conference League in the sights of Nuno Espirito Santo next season, he will want to ensure that he’s well stocked in all areas of the pitch.

Forest have been linked with Douglas Luiz recently, and perhaps a new midfielder is sought behind the scenes at the City Ground.

The Reds do have Ibrahim Sangare and Ryan Yates, but perhaps the consensus is that another option is required to keep that pair on their toes next season.

Palmeiras deliver verdict on chances of Forest signing Richard Rios

Richard Rios has been linked with a move to Forest this summer, but there could be an issue.

Despite this link only really doing the rounds for a day or two, contrasting reports are already emerging, with the latest offering bad news for Forest.

The latest link from ESPN Brasil claims that Forest have ‘zero’ chance of signing the Palmeiras player, with the Brazilian club keen to keep hold of their star player.

Yesterday, it was claimed that Forest would need to find £37 million to sign Rios, with Jorge Nicola making the claim on his YouTube channel.

Rios has been with Palmeiras since 2023 and has become integral to the Brazilian outfit, making 133 appearances in total for the club.

Douglas Luiz would be better option than Rios for Forest

The Juventus player has sampled the Premier League before, and the challenge of adapting to the league wouldn’t be as great as it would be for Rios.

It’s admirable that Forest keep looking in different markets for bargains, but with the money the Reds would need to sign the Colombian, the Reds could sign Luiz and have change.

Forest have Sangare, who played brilliantly towards the end of last season and with that in mind, there is no real rush to sign a proven number six.

However, if the Reds are insistent on landing one, Luiz feels like a better fit for Forest than Rios.
