Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will again be leading Super Bowl contender in 2025, and his top sidekick is alongside as well.
After a mediocre season (by his standards), some think tight end Travis Kelce doesn't have much juice in the tank, yet the future Hall of Famer is coming back for a 13th NFL season.
Considering Travis had his lowest yards total (823) and touchdowns (three) since his rookie season, there is a need for Kelce to remind the football world he's still got it.
And there was a thought he might retire into the sunset with sweetheart Taylor Swift by his side.
But while some are skeptical about what Kelce can do in 2025, Patrick isn't. ... and in a shocker, he didn't feel the need to discuss any of this with him.
"We never talked about it," Mahomes said of the idea of a Kelce retirement. "I think you have that in the back of your mind - I mean, for anybody that’s played a lot of football seasons, there’s always a chance. You have to put in the work in the offseason. I think everybody wants to play in the games, but putting the work in the offseason [is] where stuff gets strenuous."
And for 2025?
"I expect Travis to be Travis," Mahomes said. "Obviously, the play on the field is going to be high, he's going to go out there with the mentality that we're trying to win the Super Bowl this year. I think more than anything, it's the leadership that he brings to the building every single day, how he leads by example. It's a big impact on our football team.
"I expect him to play at a high level and be an even better leader."
So Mahomes doesn't seem concerned and after all, he is the one who sees Travis work day in and day out, but for most, until the tight end proves it on the field, there are going to be question marks over how valuable he can be to Andy Reid's offense.
Kelce has dropped 25 pounds down from his normal weight of 250 and has come into minicamp leaner than last season.
Can Kelce be the Pro Bowl tight end we know him to be? Mahomes has no doubt ... and no need to have discussed it.
