MEDINA, Ohio — Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders made headlines on Tuesday when he was pulled over for speeding in Strongsville, but it wasn’t his first speeding citation in Northeast Ohio this month.
Sanders was pulled over by Ohio State Highway Patrol in Medina, according to Medina Municipal Court records filed on June 6.
Cleveland.com contacted the Highway Patrol in Medina, but no further information on that traffic stop was immediately available.
He received a fine of $150 for speeding plus additional court costs, raising the total outstanding cost to $249, court records said.
On June 16, records indicate Sanders failed to appear at the arraignment involving the incident.

On June 17, Sanders was pulled over by Strongsville police after being accused of driving 101 mph in a 60 mph zone.
He was pulled over at roughly 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday on Interstate 72 northbound near Ohio 82 while driving a 2025 Dodge. He is due back in Strongsville’s Mayor’s Court on July 3.
Browns spokesman Peter John-Baptiste told cleveland.com they have addressed the citations with Sanders. “He is taking care of the tickets,” John-Baptiste said.
WKYC Channel 3, which has a partnership with cleveland.com, obtained body camera footage of the June 17 incident.
The Browns ended their mandatory minicamp last week, but Sanders and other rookies remained in Cleveland for an orientation.
Sanders, 23, was drafted in the fifth round out of the University of Colorado, where he was an All-American.
He remains fourth on the team’s depth chart at quarterback behind Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel.
This is not the first speeding-related incident involving a Browns player in recent years. In 2022, Myles Garrett wrecked his 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S while speeding on a rural road in Medina County.
