Aston Villa are eyeing a move to sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze this summer if they lose Morgan Rogers, according to Football Transfers.
The Villans suffered a disappointing end to the 2024/25 season as they failed to reach the Champions League following a final day defeat to Man Utd, which left them in 6th place and having to settle for a spot in the 2025/26 Europa League instead.
That has left the club with some financial issues and has left them susceptible to big offers for some key players, which has led to club chiefs planning for potential replacements.
Aston Villa Keen on Eze Deal
£68m star could replace Morgan Rogers
Eberechi Eze
Eze enjoyed a fantastic campaign with Crystal Palace in 2024/25, scoring the winner in the FA Cup final to help the south London club win the first major trophy in their history.
But the playmaker, who has been described as a "superstar" has a £68m release clause in his contract at Selhurst Park and many believe that he could be set to make a move away from the club this summer.
According to the report, Aston Villa have stepped up their interest in the 26-year-old in recent days as they look to make contingency plans in case clubs look to take advantage of their financial issues by trying to sign starlet Rogers this summer.

Rogers has been targeted by Arsenal, and it's believed that offers in excess of £50m could force Villa to consider a sale such is their position with FFP, despite the fact they value him much higher. But Eze's release clause makes him a viable replacement, and they are ready to advance negotiations and accelerate a deal quickly if they need to.
Eze is seen as a priority target for the window as a result, although Villa hope to be able to keep Rogers as part of their squad.
