Liverpool have approved a loan move for young goalkeeper Harvey Davies, who is set to join Crawley Town for the 2025/26 season (via reports by Liverpool Echo).
The 21-year-old had initially been tipped to serve as the Reds’ third-choice keeper following Caoimhin Kelleher’s exit to Brentford and Vitezslav Jaros’ loan switch to Ajax.
Instead, Liverpool are making room for new arrivals. Armin Pecsi, who joined from Puskas Akademia in a £1.5m deal, is expected to step into the backup role behind Alisson Becker, with Giorgi Mamardashvili also arriving to take over as No. 2.

Shift in squad planning could spark further action
Davies’ departure is more than just a developmental move. It hints at broader changes in Liverpool’s squad composition, particularly around the homegrown quota.
With Kelleher, Jaros and Trent Alexander-Arnold all gone and midfielder Tom Hill departing in January, the number of homegrown players available for Arne Slot’s senior squad is shrinking.
Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah, both expected to leave this summer, would reduce the club’s options further.
As it stands, only Conor Bradley, Curtis Jones, Joe Gomez and Jeremie Frimpong remain established choices to meet the eight-man homegrown requirement for a full 25-man Premier League squad.
This adds further urgency to Liverpool’s summer strategy.
The club could look to retain Quansah amid interest from Bayer Leverkusen or dip into the market for a homegrown centre-back.
Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, Chelsea’s Levi Colwill and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite have all been linked.
Davies’ move may seem routine, but it adds another layer to Liverpool’s already complex transfer puzzle.
