Manchester United star Marcus Rashford’s wages are worth around the same amount as 500 people on an average UK salary.
The 27-year-old is believed to be on around £300,000 a week at Man United, with his contract set to run until 2028.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has come under fire following his efforts to cut costs at Old Trafford, having taken over the footballing operations last year.
Ratcliffe made 250 members of United’s staff redundant last summer in a bid to “return the club to profitability”.
Chief executive Omar Berrada informed staff in February more redundancies were on the way at Old Trafford, with up to 200 more people set to lose their jobs.
In their third-quarter financial statement on 6 June, United revealed they had reduced their wage bill by £20million compared to the same point in 2024.

However, former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider a large part of that saving was down to loaning Rashford out to Aston Villa in the January transfer window.
United tightened their projected revenue guidance for 2024-25 to £660-670million after releasing their results up until the end of March.
The Manchester giants posted a club-record revenue of £661.8million in 2023-24, while their wage bill stood at £365million.

Man United savings driven by Marcus Rashford move
Borson insisted United’s saving on wages is not driven by their cost-cutting and redundancies.
He told Football Insider: “A lot has been said about those numbers as being the start of a great financial recovery.
“The reality is that what you’re seeing is the benefit of getting some very big earners off the wage bill for the second half of the year, and really that’s just about loaning out Rashford mainly.
“Remember, it’s always worth coming back to this.
“Rashford’s wages are the equivalent of 500 people on an average UK salary, so the idea that this is all driven by the cost-cutting and the redundancies is a nonsense.”

Tottenham could hijack Man United’s Bryan Mbeumo deal
In terms of a potential transfer blow, Football Insider revealed on 13 June Tottenham could hijack United’s move to sign Bryan Mbeumo following Thomas Frank’s appointment as manager.
Frank’s arrival has added to the belief that Spurs could secure the Brentford star’s signature despite him previously preferring a move to Old Trafford.
Tottenham could be boosted by their Champions League qualification, while United have no European football to offer the Cameroon international for next season.
