For those who don’t know the name Adelaide United, they are a team in the South of Australia who currently compete in the A League.

Currently, former Manchester United midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe is a midfielder for the Australian team having joined the team in 2023. Since joining the club, he has been able to make 23 appearances for the club.

However, now, Tunnicliffe has emerged in the centre of controversy following 7 Nes’ report with Travis Dodd, the outgoing assistant at the club.

This interview has revealed several things about the club with Dodd commenting that the club ‘need to be aware’ of the club’s technical director that in Dodd’s opinion was ‘undermining the head coach last year’.

It was also revealed that Ryan Tunnicliffe was forced to train on his own away from the first team players in a time where the club was still in contention for finals even if the Australian side had faded away from the league title.

During his time training on his own, the Manchester United youth academy graduate was put through intensive running sessions in the hope that the 32 year old would quit the club.

This comes following Tunnicliffe’s unwanted arrival at the club 2 years ago.

However, the midfielder was able to come through this and after 2 weeks of showing up at the correct time, doing the correct things and performing at his best, director Ernest Faber allowed him to re-join first team training with the rest of the squad.

This news comes at a time of change within the Adelaide system with Travis Dodd leaving the club meaning the club will have to make a new appointment ahead of the start of the new season.

Now, with Tunnicliffe leaving the club having played just 4 minutes during the course of the 2024-25 season, the midfielder will be searching for a new club.

Whether this is in Australia or somewhere else, the 32 year old will be looking for somewhere he can make an impact and play more frequently in the 2025-26 season.
