Sources: What insiders are saying about Liverpool and Marc Guehi as Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen talks advance

TBR Football can exclusively confirm what sources are saying about Liverpool’s interest in Marc Guehi as a potential replacement for Jarell Quansah.

The Liverpool defender is currently in talks over a move to Bayer Leverkusen and, should he leave, then the Reds will need to replace him.

TBR Football previously revealed that Quansah is on the radar of Leverkusen, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United.

Now, TBR Football can provide an update on the Quansah situation, along with several other names that the Reds are considering besides Guehi.

Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen ‘advancing’ as Marc Guehi ‘calm’ amid long-term Liverpool interest

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has confirmed that talks between Jarell Quansah and Leverkusen are “now advancing”.

Although Liverpool don’t necessarily want to offload Quansah, the player wants first-team football and has decided he wants to move.

“Liverpool didn’t really want to lose Quansah,” Bailey exclusively told TBR Football.

“But he has made it clear he wants to play and, as we revealed previously, discussions took place during the Florian Wirtz talks.

“Quansah was made aware of the interest and has decided he wants the move and talks are now advancing.

“This becomes interesting for Liverpool, they already wanted a central defender and the need for this only accelerates.”

Bailey then spoke about Liverpool’s interest in Marc Guehi, saying this has been a long-term thing rather than a new venture.

However, the Crystal Palace star is “very calm” about his future, and the prospect of signing him as a free agent next year cannot be ruled out.

“There have been links with Marc Guehi suggesting they have joined the chase,” Bailey continued.

“But Liverpool have been interested in Guehi for more than 12 months, I can confirm that.

“I am told that Guehi is very calm, with more than half a dozen clubs keen on him.

“In addition, it has been explained to me – don’t rule out the chances of him moving on a free in 2026.”

Other defenders Liverpool could target alongside Marc Guehi

Although Guehi is very much in Liverpool’s sights, there are numerous other defenders on their radar.

Ajax star Jorrel Hato is one player Liverpool like, with Arsenal also in the picture, and Nantes ace Nathan Zeze is also on their list.

Bailey mentioned two other names who cannot be ruled out – Chelsea’s Levi Colwill and Sporting CP’s Ousmane Diomande.

“Guehi aside, Liverpool know the market from the likes of Jorrel Hato and Nathan Zeze to Levi Colwill, who they like,” continued Bailey.

“And don’t rule Ousmane Diomande either – Liverpool like him too, and have scouted him numerous times.”
