Wow: Liverpool now planning huge offer for “exceptional” 24 y/o – reliable journalist

**Liverpool are now planning to table a “significant offer” for an “exceptional” player this summer, according to an exciting update from reliable journalist Chris Bascombe.**

This summer has already started with a bang at Anfield, with Jeremie Frimpong expected to be joined by former Bayer Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz.

The German will smash Liverpool’s transfer record when he joins the club, while Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez is also likely to complete a move to Anfield next week.

With Jarell Quansah strongly linked with a move to Leverkusen, however, the Reds will need to bring in a new centre-back this summer.

According to a big update from [_The Telegraph_](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/06/19/liverpool-jarell-quansah-bayer-leverkusen-transfer/)‘s Bascombe, Liverpool are “expected to make a significant offer” for Crystal Palace and England centre-back Marc Guehi.

In fact, he also states that the Premier League champions have “moved swiftly to raise funds” with the sale of Quansah to Leverkusen, with the young central defender looking likely to move on.

**Guehi a significant Quansah upgrade for Liverpool**

-----------------------------------------------------

While it would be a shame to see Quansah leave Liverpool this summer, given his long-term potential, Guehi would feel like an immediate upgrade on him.

Still only 24, the defender has now become an established player for club and country, winning the FA Cup with Palace last season and being lauded by [Gareth Southgate](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2024/07/01/guehi-praised-as-exceptional-for-england/) for his performances for England at Euro 2024:

_“He’s been exceptional. We obviously lose him now for the next game, but he’s a young defender that we’ve had enormous belief in and he’s justified that with his performances in this tournament.”_

Granted, Guehi will know that he has his work cut out in breaking up the Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate partnership at Liverpool, but he would surely still jump at the chance to play for one of the best teams in Europe.

Van Dijk isn’t getting any younger, so will have to be managed with care by Arne Slot moving forward, and Konate has had injury problems in the past.

For that reason, Guehi could still earn plenty of minutes, and he has the quality to mature into a great option for Liverpool and England for many years to come. He won’t arrive on the cheap, but could look a steal over time.
