The Oklahoma City Thunder are one game away from winning the NBA Finals and while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the overwhelming favourite for Finals MVP, Jalen Williams may have at least made it a discussion after his 40-point effort in Game 5.

Gilgeous-Alexander entered Friday a -550 betting favourite to be crowned Finals MVP, having averaged 32.4 points in the series along with 5.0 assists, 4.6 rebounds, 2.4 steals and 1.8 blocks.
The superstar guard also had that clutch 15-point performance in Game 4 that saw the Thunder storm home, while he has also been incredible on the defensive end.
It is hard to see Gilgeous-Alexander being denied, but Williams has well and truly stepped up in the past few games to put his name forward as an outside chance for the honour.
Williams is second in the line of betting at +650 and is coming off the best game of his young career.
The 24-year-old put on a driving clinic on his way to a postseason career-high 40 points and is now averaging 25.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists on the series.
Williams has also excelled as the primary playmaker for the Thunder as the series has progressed, easing the pressure on Gilgeous-Alexander and allowing him to really take over late in games.
