Man United Have Lined Up 25 Goal Ekitike Alternative Who Has£44M Release Clause

Manchester United are still keeping tabs on Fiorentina forward Moise Kean, according to reports in Italy.

Earlier this month, there was speculation that the Red Devils were considering a move for the 25-year-old, who scored 25 goals in all competitions last season.

However, since then, Ruben Amorim’s side have been linked with the likes of Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike. A formal enquiry was reportedly lodged for the Frenchman whose asking price is set at €100m (£85m).

Local Italian newspaper Corriere Fiorentino (via Sport Witness) claim that, while United are still focused on signing a “super striker”, they may yet consider a move for Kean instead who would be a much cheaper option.

The Fiorentina star has a release clause

It is believed that Kean would cost just a little over half it would take to buy Ekitike. His buyout fee is reportedly €52m (£44m), making him a more attainable target.

The former Everton player’s salary should not be an issue either. He is currently earning just under £46,000 a week with Fiorentina and, even if he demanded double or triple that figure, his wage demands would still be inside the Manchester club’s budget.

Man United are expected to have competition for the striker

The Corriere Fiorentino claim that Kean has received an approach from the Middle East. Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah are said to be offering around €15m a season which works out at around £246,000 a week.

Such a proposal may be too good to turn down, although the Italian international has not accepted the offer yet.

There is also interest from AC Milan but, like United, they do not have European football, and they would not be able to compete financially with teams from England and Saudi. It is definitely a transfer story to keep a close eye on.
