Man Utd are in the race to sign Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres in the summer transfer window.
Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly decided which club he will join in the summer transfer window amid interest from both Manchester United and Arsenal in his signature. The 27-year-old is eager to secure a move this summer, though it remains to be seen just how much he will be allowed to leave Sporting for.
United and Arsenal are both in the market for a striker, with Gyokeres one of the most appealing options on the market. The Sweden international netted 54 goals in 52 appearances as Sporting won a league and cup double this season, with the Portuguese club eager to get as much money as possible for him.
Last week, Sporting president Frederico Varandas hit back at claims he had promised Gyokeres he could leave for just €60 million in the summer transfer window, but insisted the club would not demand as much as his €100m release clause. It means there is a rough valuation of how much a deal would cost, and the player has supposedly informed his close circle which club he would most like to join.

Gyokeres 'told friends' he wants to join Arsenal
It is still early in the summer transfer window, and a lot could change in the coming weeks, but right now, Viktor Gyokeres would supposedly like to play for Arsenal next season.
Mikel Arteta wants to add a striker to his squad to mount a serious Premier League title charge, with both Gyokeres and RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko of interest. It is understood Sesko is viewed as their preferred target, though the Sporting star is eager to move to North London this summer instead.
"I had a message 24 hours or so ago suggesting that Viktor Gyokeres has told friends and family he expects to join Arsenal," talkSPORT chief football correspondent Alex Crook said. "We know that Manchester United are interested in signing him as well, obviously there is that pre-existing relationship with Ruben Amorim. But Arsenal can offer Champions League football, maybe can offer a tilt at the title next season.
"But Sporting are going to play hardball, there's been a fallout between Gyokeres and the club because his agent has suggested that they had a gentleman's agreement he could leave for £ 60 million, I think they're looking for nearer £80m. Arsenal are juggling both him and Benjamin Sesko; they've opened talks with Leipzig as well, but at the moment, I would say Gyokeres looks the more likely."
