We are now set to witness the 20th Game 7 in NBA Finals history—and the first since 2016.
History, however, doesn’t favor the Pacers. Of the previous 19 Game 7s in Finals history, the road team has won only four times.
The most recent instance came in 2016, when the Cleveland Cavaliers completed a historic comeback from a 3–1 series deficit to defeat the Golden State Warriors on their home court.
The Thunder, on the other hand, appear to have the odds in their favor. Moreover, they’ve already won a Game 7 at home during this postseason, defeating the Denver Nuggets in the second round.
With everything on the line, Game 7 of the NBA Finals will tip off Sunday night in Oklahoma City.
