Manchester United have some difficult decisions to make ahead of next season, as they look to move on from a few players who are not a part of Ruben Amorim’s plans. The Portuguese tactician hasn’t shown much generosity during his time at Old Trafford.

For the final matchday of the season against Aston Villa, Ruben Amorim decided to leave Andre Onana out of the squad entirely, seemingly sending a message to the Cameroonian that his services are no longer needed.

Onana’s time at Old Trafford has been marred by mistakes. Since his move from Inter Milan, filling the boots of David de Gea has proven to be a big problem and it hasn’t helped that the ex-Ajax shot-stopper hasn’t exactly hit the ground running.

Now, as per Give Me Sport, Manchester United are in the race to sign talented Aston Villa shot-stopper Emiliano Martinez and the Argentinian World Cup winner is willing to do all it takes to moves to Old Trafford this summer.

One of the most notorious figures inbetween the posts going around, Emi would add a lot of quality to the Man Utd team and most importantly, would offer a presence that can lead the backline. Valued at around £40million, it would make a lot of sense for the Red Devils.

Coincidentally, Man Utd are also ready to accept the sale of Andre Onana this summer. Moving on the Cameroonian would leave Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton as the only first-team goalkeepers, and Emi can come in and make that spot his own.

Emiliano Martinez is a player who might not always be reliable and can often be caught making rash decisions, but the potential upsides of this transfer outweigh the negatives. Thus, this is something that Man Utd should seriously consider.

Ultimately, it could all come down to Andre Onana’s exit from Man Utd and the Red Devils being able to agree on a transfer fee with Aston Villa. If that happens, it could prove to be a transformative signing for Ruben Amorim and let’s wait and see how things go.
