New bowling and entertainment venue applies for alcohol license ahead of opening

As previously reported, Superbowl UK, a new bowling alley and entertainment venue, complete with soft play, darts and shuffleboard, is opening in [Festival Place](https://www.basingstokegazette.co.uk/topics/festival-place/) this summer.

The venue is due to open its doors 'soon' and has been teased for months with signage outside its location, in the upper tier of Festival Place, 43-49 Queen Anne's Walk, next to the soon-to-open Han's Buffet.

While both Festival Place and Superbowl UK have been tight-lipped about an exact opening date and any new information, the _Gazette_ can confirm that the venue intends to serve alcohol and late-night refreshments.

An application license was submitted for the premises, reading: "Notice is hereby given that Superbowl UK Basingstoke Limited has submitted a premises licence application to [Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council](https://www.basingstokegazette.co.uk/topics/basingstoke-and-deane-borough-council/).

"The application is for a new licence for the premises known as Superbowl UK Basingstoke, 43-49 Queen Anne's Walk, Festival Place, Basingstoke, RG21 7BE.

"The application proposes the provision of regulated entertainment, late night refreshment and the sale of alcohol."

Acquisitions director at the company, Kate Quaintance, which operates in 14 venues across the UK, including Aldershot, previously said the centre will be 'family friendly' and 'everyone will be able to find something to enjoy'.

She added that the 'appeal to a broad demographic' was the reasoning behind the company's decision to open in the centre.

The director added: "Our visitor demographics align, which gives us the confidence of being successful here, and hopefully introducing customers from further afield to Festival Place and all it has to offer, because we know from experience people will travel to enjoy an evening at Superbowl UK."

A spokesperson for Festival Place said: “We are delighted that these two brands are coming to expand the leisure offering at FP and we’re expecting them to be fully operational later this year. We’ll have further announcements very soon – so watch this space.

"It’s certainly been an exciting start for our new owners."
