'Their aim is': Newcastle's stance on Man City star Jack Grealish has now become very clear

The future of Manchester City star Jack Grealish remains unclear.

The 2024/25 campaign was a very tough one for the 29-year-old as the winger was not a key part of Pep Guardiola’s plans at the Etihad Stadium, hence why Grealish was left out of Man City’s squad for the FIFA Club World Cup.

With the transfer window already open, the Englishman’s future is no closer to being sorted, as a big problem for any interested club is the player’s £300,000-a-week wages, in addition to Man City wanting £50m for Grealish.

Newcastle are one of the clubs that have been linked to Grealish, and the Magpies’ stance on a move has now been made very clear.

Newcastle are not interested in Jack Grealish

Newcastle are currently preparing behind the scenes to return to Champions League football, and as a result, the Tyneside club will not want to lose any of their star players, with Eddie Howe planning to keep the likes of Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.

As a result, Grealish will not be needed at St James’ Park, and Ben Jacobs has now explained this exact stance.

“Newcastle are just shutting up shop at the moment and saying we’ve got Champions League football. None of these assets are for sale, and our PSR position is fine,” the transfer expert said on the Inside Gooners podcast.

“So I think Gordon would be difficult to pull off and maybe a bit counterproductive for Newcastle, simply because you’ve got Anthony Gordon plus Harvey Barnes both in excellent form.

“Now we hear some reports that might give Arsenal fans hope that Jack Grealish could be heading to Newcastle, and maybe those putting two and two together and making four, or hoping that it’s four, will be saying that means that Gordon’s going, because it is true.

“If Newcastle moved for a player like Grealish, they’ll have to lose one of those players on the left-hand side. But the bad news, I’m told, is two and two makes five and that Grealish and Newcastle is not a thing, and their aim is to keep hold of both Gordon and, of course, Harvey Barnes.”

This is a blow for Grealish as a top manager such as Howe may have helped the winger rediscover the best version of himself; however, there are still other options for the Englishman.

The latest on Jack Grealish’s future

The future of Grealish remains unclear ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with the latest being that Napoli do not have an interest in the Man City winger.

It looks like the Englishman is struggling to find a new club at present, but with a loan move the most likely option for the 29-year-old, his future will likely be sorted towards the end of the summer transfer window.

Jack Grealish’s career at Man City

Grealish has been told to join Everton this summer as the Man City star would benefit from working with David Moyes, with the Toffees another club to express some interest in the former Aston Villa star.

The 29-year-old currently finds himself in a tricky situation, but whatever happens, the winger needs to make sure he is playing at his next club, as that is the only way he will be able to force his way into Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 World Cup next summer.
