Declan Rice shortlisted for PFA Players’ Player of the Year

Declan Rice has been named on the shortlist for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.

It’s the first time the England international has been up for the gong, although he was included in the PFA Team of the Year last season and earned a nomination for the PFA Young Player of the Year award in 2019 while at West Ham.

Given he was recently crowned Arsenal’s Player of the Season and nominated for Premier League Player of the Season, you don’t need me to remind you that Rice was one of Mikel Arteta’s most consistent performers last season.

The midfielder featured 52 times across all competitions, scoring nine goals and making 10 assists. What’s that, ou’ve not watched his brace of free-kicks against Real Madrid for a few days?

You better rectify that…

Bruno Fernandes, Alexander Isak, Cole Palmer, Alexis Mac Allister and Mo Salah are the other nominees with the latter outright favourite to scoop the gong for a third time following successes in 2017/18 and 2021/22.

As we reported yesterday, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri have been nominated for the Young Player of the Year.
