Just in: David Ornstein says "world-class" star in London to sign for Arsenal

Martin Zubimendi is currently in London to put the finishing touches on a move to Arsenal, according to David Ornstein.

The Gunners are keen to bolster their squad this summer after finishing as Premier League runners-up for a third consecutive season under Mikel Arteta, while they also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League before defeat to eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain.

Now the north London giants have made their move to finalise a major deal for their midfield as Zubimendi arrives at the Emirates Stadium from Real Sociedad.

Midfielder to sign long-term contract

Zubimendi, who has been described as 'world-class' and 'one of the best midfielders in the world', has been a regular for his boyhood club Real Sociedad for several seasons and was close to a move to Liverpool last summer.

But the Spain international made a late U-turn on the move and stayed with the club, which has allowed Arsenal to make their move this year and convince him to finally switch La Liga for the Premier League.

Arsenal are expected to pay slightly more than his €60m (£51m) release clause for tax purposes, but the player has now travelled to London to finalise a deal that will see him sign a long-term contract with the Gunners.
