COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Former [Ohio State](https://www.cleveland.com/osu/) cornerback Damon Arnette is getting a second chance at the NFL.
Arnette is expected to sign with the Houston Texans, [according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz](https://x.com/Schultz_Report/status/1935388004165517727?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1935388004165517727%7Ctwgr%5E9bd1266a8ca57244df9f253718a0d949f6a0963f%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.elevenwarriors.com%2Fohio-state-football%2F2025%2F06%2F156573%2Fformer-ohio-state-conerback-damon-arnette-expected-to-sign-with-houston-texans). This comes after a standout season in the UFL with the Houston Roughnecks.
The former second-team All-Big Ten cornerback was the No. 19 overall pick to the Oakland Raiders (now Las Vegas Raiders) in the 2020 NFL draft following an impressive final season 2019 playing under then-defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. He was one of three first-round picks for OSU that year, following Chase Young and Jeff Okudah.
However, he hasn’t quite lived up to that pick, partially thanks to off-the-field problems. He’s since become an NFL journeyman with stints playing for the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs before being released in 2022.
Now the Texans are giving Arnette a chance to revive his NFL career. He joins a team that already features a handful of former Buckeyes in C.J. Stroud, Cade Stover, Tommy Togiai and Xavier Johnson.
Former Buckeye on the sidelines
-------------------------------
Former Ohio State wide receiver Johnnie Dixon is getting into coaching.
Dixon will coach wide receivers at Hamilton High School in Arizona.
The former top 100 recruit in the 2014 recruiting class had a productive career as a Buckeye despite dealing with injuries early in his career. He caught 67 passes for 1,146 and 16 touchdowns in 48 games across five seasons.
Following his college career, he signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent, but didn’t make the 53-man roster. He then spent two seasons on the practice squad of the Arizona Cardinals, then one year with the Dallas Cowboys on the practice squad.
Dixon then wrapped up his playing career with two seasons in the USFL playing for the New Orleans Breakers, where he caught 71 passes for 825 yards and nine touchdowns.
