Newcastle United coaches have found the secret to getting the best out of Alexander Isak and it is in some way down to their regular private discussions.
The 25-year-old Swede has emerged as one of the Premier League's best forwards during his three-year stint at St James’ Park.
He has scored an impressive 62 goals in 109 appearances across all competitions for Newcastle, including 27 goals and six assists this season, largely thanks to the role of Eddie Howe and his staff.
His scintillating form has, unsurprisingly, brought about significant interest from the likes of Premier League champions Liverpool.
Newcastle insist their talisman is not for sale. But Isak’s specific requirements in order to play to his full potential might be another factor that deters the Reds from splashing out a hefty £150million sum in an attempt to sign him this summer.
Isak is widely considered to be the finished article, though a deep dive into the player by The Athletic earlier this year revealed that the onus is very much on the coaches at Newcastle to get the best out of the Swede.

It stated that Isak has to be kept “stimulated” to “really get him going”. Newcastle coaching staff discuss among themselves how they can push him into elevating his levels at the appropriate moment - only then can they reap the benefits of his lofty potential.
His raw talent was clear from the moment he joined the Magpies, who never doubted his ability. Newcastle coaches reportedly felt he needed time to fully understand the Premier League, an ongoing process, though he possessed “uncoachable raw ingredients”, according to a former member of staff.

Those who have worked with Isak say he "needs to be constantly challenged" and thrives on "creative work", given his creative playing style.
Howe and his team also devise specific targets for Isak, which he finds motivating and it helps keep him engaged.
An anonymous source who has worked closely with Isak was quoted saying: "There isn't a ceiling to what he can achieve," explaining why he is such a sought-after player and why Newcastle are determined not to let him go this summer.

According to Give Me Sport, Liverpool may be prepared to break the transfer record for a second time in the window to land Isak, having already done so this summer by securing Florian Wirtz for £116m.
Yet, reports state that the Reds would submit a bid closer to £100m if they choose to approach Newcastle with an offer. That figure would fall significantly below Newcastle's asking price for a player they have no intention of selling with three years left on his deal.
The Magpies have themselves been linked with Brighton forward Joao Pedro. Yet, even if they decide to match his £70m asking price, the Brazilian is likely to play on the right flank for Howe, accommodating Isak rather than replacing him.
