Nottingham Forest look set to be handed a double contract boost as they continue to put plans in place for the new season.
The Reds have already confirmed defender Willy Boly has put pen to paper on a new deal. The experienced centre-back has extended his stay at the City Ground until 2026.
It appears two of his teammates are “on the verge” of following suit and committing their futures to the club. Full-backs Ola Aina and Neco Williams could be next in line to agree fresh terms with Forest.
The duo are heading into the final 12 months of their current contracts and the Reds are eager to get them tied down to longer deals. Talks are “advancing positively” and reaching an agreement with the pair is viewed as a “formality”, according to The Telegraph.
A 12-month extension on Aina’s contract was triggered when Nuno Espirito Santo’s side officially avoided relegation last season. Reports earlier this year suggested a new two-year deal with a further 12-month option was on the cards.
The 28-year-old, who arrived Trentside on a free transfer two years ago, has become a key figure for Forest - both on and off the pitch. Such has been his form and his influence in the dressing room, he has been the subject of some transfer speculation.
Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Roma, AC Milan, Besiktas and Galatasaray have all been linked with the Nigeria international. However, the Reds have moved to fend off any potential suitors for one of their most important players.
Like Aina, Williams has developed into a big player for the club. He was one of the team’s most consistent performers in the second half of last season as he pinned down his spot in the first XI.
The pair will be crucial for Forest again next term as Nuno prepares to lead his side into Europe. The Reds will test themselves in the Conference League in 2025/26, following their seventh-placed finish in the Premier League.
As was the case last summer, retaining the bulk of the squad will be important as Forest aim to push on again. With that in mind, The Telegraph adds “significant offers” will be required for owner Evangelos Marinakis to even consider selling any of the club’s prized assets.
Earlier this week, it was reported the Reds were in talks with winger Callum Hudson-Odoi about a new deal. The former Chelsea man is not short of suitors, with Manchester United the latest team said to be eyeing him up.
