The only confirmed arrival so far has been Lukas Nmecha. He will officially join the club next month. Nmecha is a welcomed addition to the team as he boosts the quality of the attack. Daniel Farke already has a role in mind for the German next season.

There are plans to improve the defence and midfield this summer. A deal for Udinese’s Jaka Bijol is still being worked on.

Habib Diarra’s situation is much different. So far there have been talks between Leeds and Strasbourg, but nothing has been agreed. According to TEAMtalk, the French side have asked for a £25million fee, £4million more than Leeds’ initial offer.

The clubs are confident a deal can be done, as in recent days, Strasbourg President Marc Kelleher stated that Diarra will leave this summer if a decent offer arrives.

Habib Diarra offers a different dimension to Leeds’ midfield

Leeds have a really solid core of midfield options at the club. Ao Tanaka, Ethan Ampadu and Illia Gruev are a good unit for any club in England. Despite their individual qualities, they lack something as a collective. Tanaka is a workhorse with good ability on the ball, Ampadu is phenomenal defensively, and Gruev is a mixture of both.

What the club could do more with is a midfielder who can carry the ball. The ability to pick up the ball and drive into space is key in the Premier League. And Habib Diarra offers that in abundance; he was one of the best ball carriers in Ligue 1 last season. Adding him to the midfield would be a huge boost.
