Bayern Leverkusen have reached an agreement to sign Jarell Quansah according to reliable reports.

His future at Anfield became slightly muddied this season with his minutes heavily reduced after his breakout 2023/24 campaign.

Although the defender is at the U21 European Championships currently, he gave his greenlight for the switch.

Quansah signed a new five-year contract with Liverpool in October 2023, keeping his value for a scenario just like this one.

Now Sky Germany has reported that the Bundesliga side have reached an agreement for the 22-year-old.

The Anfield club will receive €30m (approx. £25m) for their academy talent, representing pure profit for the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

It claimed that a medical will take place next week to complete the deal, with Quansah set to pen a five-year deal:

“Full agreement: Leverkusen get Quansah for €30 million,” Florian Plettenberg reports.

“Transfer Update revealed at the end of May, now the switch is rising: Jarell Quansah moves to Bayer 04 Leverkusen!”

“A full agreement has now been reached between Leverkusen and Liverpool.”

“Payout: €30 million plus bonuses. Contract until 2030. The medical examinations are already being prepared and are expected to take place next week.”

Quansah’s departure marks the end of a journey that began when he joined Liverpool’s academy at just five years old from local club Woolston Rovers.

The Warrington-born defender progressed through every level of the club’s youth system, captaining both the U18s to the FA Youth Cup final and the UEFA Youth League team.

After a successful loan spell at Bristol Rovers in early 2023, where he made 16 appearances and impressed despite the team’s struggles, Quansah broke into Liverpool’s first team under Jurgen Klopp.

He made his Premier League debut in August 2023.

Unfortunately, the 22-year-old has just not managed to fully convince Arne Slot, and has been the victim of a few high-profile errors this recent 2024/25 campaign.
