Manchester United are gearing up for a huge summer transfer window and will do so with a key asset helping Ruben Amorim to lead them out of the "doldrums"

Jason Wilcox has been backed to help Manchester United become a huge force in English football again.
Wilcox has been promoted to the role of director of football at Old Trafford, following the decision of Sir Dave Brailsford to step down. United have failed to win the title since 2013, and have found themselves in the doldrums since Sir Alex Ferguson retired as manager in the same year.
But Colin Hendry reckons his former team-mate has the footballing acumen to help United become a major success again. Hendry, who won the title alongside Wilcox with Blackburn Rovers in 1995, outlined why in a chat with Coin Poker.
He said: "I see him now, top man at Manchester United, obviously brilliant pedigree in terms of upstairs roles with Manchester City and Southampton, and it makes me proud.
"I'm a City man after my time there as a player, but I wish him every success in the world, and I think he will be successful because he does everything with full commitment.

"He was just like that as a player, quite underrated in my opinion, but he was as good as any of the wingers in the Premier League. He was a big part of Blackburn’s title win.
"Let's make no mistake about it, United have been in the doldrums for the last few years.
"What an opportunity to lead the football side of the operation and turn this juggernaut around.
"From what I can see and the business that he has done, it looks like he’s doing a great job.
"He’s obviously got unrivalled knowledge of the youth systems around Europe and has already pinched two of Arsenal's most promising youngsters, and Matheus Cunha will be a great signing for United.

"I’m certain he’ll be a success at United. It’s interesting to watch him shape the club knowing him as I do."
