While the prize money is substantial, Liverpool probably won't be too disappointed not to be at this summer's new-look Club World Cup. Without it, Arne Slot will have a full pre-season with his players to prepare for the new campaign.
Given the number of changes that could take place on the Liverpool roster amid so many moving transfer parts, that could be especially important. Florian Wirtz could be next through the door, but he won't be the last, and there are plenty who are expected to move on as well.
The Club World Cup tournament is ongoing, though, and PSG, the Champions League winner who knocked Liverpool out of UEFA's top competition earlier in the calendar year, was on the end of a shock result in its latest fixture, losing to the South American side Botafogo.
The Brazilian champion won 1-0 in California thanks to a goal from Igor Jesus in the first half, with PSG having hammered Atletico Madrid 4-0 only a few days earlier.
Botafogo, now top of the group on six points, could end up in the knockout phase with one of the European pair heading out.
Nuno Mendes, Joao Neves and Fabian Ruiz dropped to the PSG bench, but it was still a strong side that head coach Luis Enrique named. And Bradley Barcola, who missed the Atletico Madrid game through injury, returned.

Still, PSG couldn't find a way through a defensive block. Botafogo defended admirably, seeing only 25 per cent of the ball and taking just four shots to PSG's 16.
"Botafogo is the team that has defended best against us this season, both in the league and Champions League," Enrique said, despite his side having played Liverpool, Arsenal, Inter Milan and Aston Villa.
"We didn't generate as many chances as usual. We're used to playing against deep blocks, but it's very difficult.
"Congratulations to them. In terms of attitude, we were very good. The result shouldn't erase everything. We have to look at what we did well and what we can improve."

PSG will face Seattle Sounders in its final group game on Monday, and should therefore still progress without too much fuss. But Enrique will want to see an improvement in attacking areas.
Atletico Madrid will face Botafogo next, likely needing to win that match to move into the next round. Diego Simeone's side will hope not to exit early in the tournament having qualified for it, though it would then offer more of a rest this summer before the players return for pre-season and another gruelling campaign.
Liverpool.com says: Not being at the Club World Cup could be a real blessing for the Reds. While the likes of Manchester City and PSG are playing, Liverpool is resting. At some point next season, that will surely play into its hands.
