Liverpool set asking price for in-demand forward

With the transfer window now in full swing, several Premier League clubs have already been busy in the market this summer.

Champions Liverpool have already added Jeremie Frimpong to Arne Slot’s squad, following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Slot will likely want to make further additions to his squad before they begin the defence of their crown by welcoming Bournemouth to Anfield in August.

Now, it has emerged that the Merseyside outfit have set their asking price for a forward that is attracting significant interest from European clubs.

As reported by CaughtOffside, Liverpool have put a price tag of around £42 million on forward Darwin Nunez.

The Uruguay international is said to have attracted interest from Serie A champions Napoli, who are said to have made the player their top attacking target for the summer.

It is claimed that the 25-year-old is keen to depart Liverpool but wishes to stay put in Europe, making Naples a viable destination for the player.

Nunez joined Liverpool from Portuguese side Benfica back in the summer of 2022 and has since played 143 times for the club across all competitions, scoring 40 goals and providing 26 assists.

Last term he struggled to establish himself as a regular starter in Slot’s side, starting just eight of the Reds’ 38 Premier League matches.

The Uruguayan was the subject of interest from Saudi clubs in January but the player himself never explored a move to the Middle East, however Pro League sides could once again show interest in the player this summer.

Napoli are said to be keen to see what Nunez could bring to Antonio Conte’s side, who won the Scudetto last season for the second time in three years.

Nunez is currently contracted to Liverpool until the end of the 2027/28 campaign.
