Aston Villa left-back Lucas Digne has opened talks over a move to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, sources have told Football Insider.
The La Liga outfit are prepared to make an opening bid of £8million for the 31-year-old, but Villa are holding out for £10million.
Diego Simeone’s side have also been working on move to sign Liverpool star Andy Robertson, and sources say a deal for the Scotland international is still on the cards.
Atletico Madrid have been speaking to both Digne and Robertson about signing this summer, but the latter has yet to make a decision about joining.
Villa, meanwhile, are keen to cash in on Digne in a last-ditch attempt to balance the books.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 18 June that Aston Villa must sell within 12 days to comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

Unai Emery’s side face a potential points deduction if they do not comply and are working overtime to agree the sale of a big-name player in the coming days.
However, Digne is not the only Villa star on Simeone’s radar, as Football Insider exclusively revealed that Emiliano Martinez wants to join Atletico Madrid.

Lucas Digne and Emi Martinez eye Aston Villa exits
Former Villa scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Liverpool are prepared to let Robertson leave as they close in on signing Milos Kerkez.
That could open the door for Atletico to swoop for Robertson ahead of Digne, but the deal will rest on whether the player wants to move to Spain.
The French left-back would be more open to the move despite having played a key role in Emery’s side over the last season with 45 appearances in all competitions.
Ian Maatsen is being eyed for an improved role in the team should the current first-choice leave after he proved his worth towards the end of the season.
Vikka’s financial situation has forced them to consider a number of big-name sales, with Digne and Martinez at the top of their list as things stand.
Madrid is not the goalkeeper’s only option, though, as Brown told Football Insider that Martinez could join Man United thanks to his agent’s connections.

Mason Mount interest emerges at Villa Park
Despite ongoing pressure to sell players at Villa Park, preparations are also underway to strengthen Emery’s squad ahead of their Europa League participation.
Brown told Football Insider on 20 June that Aston Villa are interested in signing Mason Mount, who could be allowed to leave Man United this summer.
Having got back to full fitness at United, Villa are hopeful they could help him to rediscover the form he showed during his time at Chelsea.
This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed on 17 June that Man United will accept offers for Mount following the arrival of Matheus Cunha.
