Manchester United's summer transfer window has been dominated by their pursuit of adding the three attacking reinforcements Ruben Amorim needs for next season. Yet a new goalkeeper could be the next signing through the door.
United acted quickly to trigger Matheus Cunha's £62.5million release clause at Wolves but the movement has gone quiet recently. Bryan Mbeumo looked set to become signing number two but no agreement has yet been agreed with Brentford.
A move for a new centre-forward has been mooted but again, United are yet to make a formal move for any of the many strikers linked. Now, it seems as though a move to replace Andre Onana could materialise.
Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez is set to leave the club this summer after appearing to say goodbye to Villa Park at the end of last season. United have been tentatively tipped to make a move for the 32-year-old and reports this week offers encouragement.
Reports in Argentina on Thursday claimed that United were 'advancing in talks' to bring Martinez to Old Trafford. Various outlets have also claimed that the former Arsenal shot-stopper is open to joining United this summer.

Emiliano Martinez will serve a three-match ban at the start of the 2025/26 Premier League season
Argentinian outlet Diario Ole has claimed on Friday that United made official contact with Villa to source their terms for Martinez. The deal appears to be one that has legs but Amorim faces an unwanted scenario of being without the World Cup winner at the start of the season.
Martinez was sent off in Villa's 2-0 defeat to United on the final day of last season after wiping out Rasmus Hojlund. Referee Thomas Bramall immediately showed a red card meaning the goalkeeper will serve a three-match ban.
That means that if United sign Martinez before the start of the season, he will miss the Arsenal and Fulham Premier League fixtures as well as the Carabao Cup second round clash set to play place week commencing 25 August.
Martinez would have to wait until Burnley visit Old Trafford on August 30 before the first international break of the season.
