Just as the general public had written off the Indiana Pacers from going any further in this year’s NBA Finals, the Oklahoma City Thunder — also known as the “Thunder Cats” — came up short in Game 6 by falling to the Pacers, 108-91.
Former Kentucky Wildcat and current NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored the game’s high with 21 points but committed eight turnovers, and his team fell well short of closing the deal on the road.
Teammate and fellow-former Wildcat Cason Wallace played just 14 minutes and made only one shot to score two points in the game.
Meanwhile, despite a hobbled Tyrese Haliburton, the Pacers played a well-balanced game at the offensive end and put together one of their better defensive performances of the entire playoffs.
The loss by the Thunder leads to a winner-take-all Game 7 back in OKC on Sunday night, in which SGA and the “Thunder Cats” are favored by 7.5 points.
Tip-off for Game 7 is scheduled for 8 PM ET with television coverage on ABC.
