BURNLEY are, in many ways, a modest club, but they have plenty of admirers. A founding member of the Football League. Their honours list comprises just three major trophies, but throughout their history, they have had to contend with a very competitive region that is close to Manchester’s illustrious clubs. They also have local rivals that compete for the footballing public’s attention.
Burnley are back in the Premier League in 2025-26 and face a significant hurdle in avoiding a repeat of their last campaign in the top flight when they were relegated at the first attempt. It’s a problem facing Leeds United and Sunderland, the other promoted clubs.
