Estevao Willian to Chelsea timeline as Maresca prepares for wonderkid's arrival

It has been revealed when Estevao Willian will finally join Chelsea. The Blues signed the 18-year-old winger from Palmeiras last summer for an initial £29m; a fee which could rise to £55m with performance-based add-ons.

Chelsea raised eyebrows when they forked out such a hefty fee for Estevao, but now he looks to be a shrewd investment. This summer, the Brazil international has caught the eye at the Club World Cup, winning man of the match in each of his two appearances.

Estevao helped Abel Ferreira's side secure a crucial point in their opener against Porto before playing a key role in a 2-0 win over Ahly SC. Thanks to his efforts, Palmeiras sit top of Group A ahead of their final clash against Inter Miami.

Fortunately for Enzo Maresca, he won't have to wait much longer before the teenage sensation touches down at Stamford Bridge. So, with that being said, football.london has rounded up everything you need to know about Estevao and his move to Chelsea.

Palmer heaps praise on Estevao

In an interview with the Mail Online, Cole Palmer was quizzed on Estevao ahead of his arrival later this summer. The Chelsea talisman said: "He’s a really good player. I’ve spoken to him a few times.

"He doesn’t speak much English, so it was a case of Google Translate, but I’ve had a few conversations with him saying I’m looking forward to seeing him and playing with him…"

Estevao 'dreams' of Chelsea arrival

Speaking toESPN Brasil earlier this month, Estevao said: "It means everything. It's a dream come true for me. I've always dreamed of playing in Europe alongside the best.

"Playing in important competitions, such as the Champions League and the Premier League. It's a dream come true. It will be very important for my life.

"It's a dream of mine and my family's. It will be an incredible opportunity to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world. And I hope to get there and adapt as quickly as possible. I want to play. It's the thing I love doing most, what I enjoy most."

Estevao added: "Of course, I know I will have difficulties, but I will be with my family, who are the pillar of my life. It will be an important step for me and my family. I hope it will be the best possible way. London, Chelsea... it couldn't be better."

Estevao's agent reveals Chelsea plan

In an interview with Spanish outlet AS in April, André Cury revealed that Estevao will play for Palmeiras at the Club World Cup before joining Chelsea in July. The Brazilian's agent said: "Yes, he's arriving after the Club World Cup. He's a world-class player. Very good. A guy who's going to make history here."

On comparisons to Neymar, Cury added: "No, it's better not to make comparisons. He has his own style, but he's a very good player. He has a good family structure that helps him on a daily basis and is essential.

"Afraid of the jump to the Premier League? No, he'll play calmly. He'll arrive and be ready to play. He's playing very well at Palmeiras."
