Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is prepared to settle for a move to Italy after Chelsea decided not to buy him.

Chelsea paid a £5million penalty fee not to sign Sancho, having negotiated an obligation to buy him for a fee up to £25m when they recruited the 25-year-old on a season-long loan in August.

Sources say Sancho's representative, Emeka Obasi, sounded out clubs in Germany, where Sancho had two spells with Borussia Dortmund, but the Bundesliga has been discounted.

Napoli are reputedly keen on Sancho, having had a £40m bid rejected for fellow United winger Alejandro Garnacho in January.

Sancho is out of contract at United next year and the club is seeking a fee similar to the one Chelsea originally agreed to pay, despite Sancho's underwhelming campaign in west London.

United and Napoli have a productive relationship following the sale of Scott McTominay last summer and Napoli coach Antonio Conte has form for bringing players from the Premier League to Serie A.

After Inter Milan appointed Conte in 2019, the club signed Romelu Lukaku, Ashley Young and Alexis Sanchez from United. Christian Eriksen and Victor Moses also arrived from Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea while McTominay's Scotland teammates Billy Gilmour moved to Napoli at the same time.

United winger Antony is prepared to take a 30 per cent wage cut to leave the club permanently in the summer. United require a fee of £32.58m to avoid a loss on Antony under the Premier League's profitability and sustainability regulations.

Antony, 25, earns around £150,000-a-week with United out of the Champions League and he is under contract at the club for two more years.

The Brazil international impressed on loan at Real Betis in the second half of 2024-25 and earned a recall to the national team squad.

United signed Sancho from Dortmund for £72.9m in 2021 and Antony left Ajax for United the next year in an £86.3m deal.
