Newcastle United star Tino Livramento has impressed as a flying left-back at the UEFA Under-21 European Championships this month.
At times the standard has looked too easy for him as he drifts past opposing full-backs and delivers into the box. Last season, Eddie Howe used Livramento at right-back and the opposite flank after Lewis Hall's injury, while the ex-Chelsea youth got a chance at wing-back too towards the end of the season.
With former England manager and current U21 boss Lee Carsley seeing Livramento as a left-back, it remains to be seen what comes next in a Three Lions jersey for the youngster.
When asked about his positional preference, Livramento, speaking to Press in Slovakia, said: "Lee would say he likes me on the left because I can come inside and use my right foot. The same goes for the Newcastle manager, but when you're in that position, it's all instinct."
Given Livramento has thrived on the left with England this summer, as the Three Lions prepare to face Spain in the quarter-finals this weekend, it was put to the defender by reporters in eastern Europe whether he now had found his best position.
The 22-year-old said: "I wouldn't say playing as a left-back is my favourite position, but as long as I'm out there and playing I'm really enjoying my football right now."
Eyebrows were raised when Livramento was named in the England U21s for the tournament in Slovakia and left out of the main squad by Thomas Tuchel.
Livramento, however, admits he was keen to play for the U21s and said: "Thomas spoke to me about the senior squad and playing in a tournament gives me experience.
"I have always missed tournaments with injuries so that is a big thing for me.
"I was told I would be playing on the left and that is where I played last season for Newcastle, it is no different coming here."
