Spencer Whipple on Trevor Lawrence: Growth, Leadership, and a Strong Offseason

JACKSONVILLE – The progress was as real as it was impressive.

Jaguars quarterbacks coach Spencer Whipple spent the 2025 offseason program working with quarterback Trevor Lawrence for the first time. As that program recently neared its end, Whipple made this much clear:

The work was good, productive and important.

"It has been a pleasure to work with him," Whipple said.

Whipple late in the '25 offseason program discussed Lawrence's offseason, a period in which the fifth-year veteran focused not only on learning Head Coach Liam Coen's offense but on learning the footwork necessary to flourish in the system.

"I think his footwork has dramatically improved," Coen said. "I think he has taken a step in that area as well as just the overall operation. That's what I've really looked for."

Whipple agreed, and spoke of a quarterback who grew in multiple areas in his first months working with a new coaching staff.
