Weeks into the summer transfer window and Leeds United are yet to find a new keeper. Illan Meslier still remains at the club this summer.
Rumours came about during the run in, when the French keeper was benched by Daniel Farke. After a run of poor form and mistakes, the 25-year old was swapped for Karl Darlow. Darlow performed well for the last seven games of the season as Leeds eventually lifted the Championship.

In the early days of the transfer window, Leeds offered Illan Meslier to clubs in an effort to sell him, but nothing has materialized.
The Whites reportedly had a shortlist of keepers, said to include Sam Johnstone and Aaron Ramsdale. The latter has been linked with a return to the Premier League, as multiple clubs swarm.
Now, the Daily Echo reports that Southampton are open to selling the England keeper. But moving him will be a tough task, Ramsdale is said to be happy with the Saints. A move for him would need a sizeable financial package.
Ramsdale is not an upgrade on Meslier
Despite Leeds fans’ complaints about the Frenchman, he has been a solid first choice for a large part of his career. At some point his development stalled, and the mistakes became excessive, but overall he has been decent for the club. Even this past season, Meslier managed to keep 21 clean sheets, maintaining a 71% save rate.

Ramsdale is very similar to Meslier in many aspects. His overall shot stopping is not that impressive, however he does excel in commanding his box and claiming crosses. This past season saw him concede 66 goals, keeping just three clean sheets. Combined with the price tag rumoured, this would be a terrible deal for Leeds United.
