BEREA -- It was only a year ago when two of the Cleveland Browns top three wide receivers were Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore. The Browns biggest move of the 2024 offseason was trading for wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, who was a former first-round pick of the Broncos, but had never truly had a breakout season in his first four NFL seasons.
General manager Andrew Berry traded a couple of low draft choices for Jeudy and promptly signed him to a long-term extension.
Berry's foresight in signing Jeudy to an extension, mostly on potential, paid off as Jeudy broke out in his first season with the Browns and he made his first Pro Bowl after having career-highs with 90 receptions and 1,229 yards receiving, including four touchdowns.

Jeudy played so well, Berry opted to trade Cooper before the trade deadline for a third-round draft choice from the Bills, which was used to draft quarterback Dillon Gabriel.
However, Jeudy did not get off to a fast start in 2024 and he learned an important lesson. In his first seven games, Jeudy had just 21 receptions for 266 yards with one touchdown.
"Just patience," he said. "Patience. Just like I didn't start off my season last year how I ended it, of course. So I just stayed patient, kept working, kept focused, and just kept working on my craft. Eventually, I was able to perform and show what I could do and that's what I'm going to continue to keep doing."
Jeudy said he continued to work and do his job and his work paid off.
"Just going out there in practice, just get open, run my routes, how I've been doing and just keep doing what I've been doing," he said. "It's only so much I can control, is just all I can do is just run routes and get open. So that's why I'm going to continue doing and keep on doing it."

After the injury to Deshaun Watson in the seventh game, Jeudy's numbers skyrocketed and he had 69 receptions for 963 yards in the final 10 games. He connected with Jameis Winston on Monday Night Football on Dec. 2 against his former team in Denver with nine receptions and 235 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown.
Jeudy was asked what is the key for his success.
