Man United were amongst the clubs showing interest in Ligue 1 star. The player was superb last season where he picked 37 goal contributions. But, the Red Devils have now ended his pursuit.
Man United are keen to improve their attacking unit. They have already started the summer window on strong note. The Red Devils have landed Matheus Cunha for £62.5 million. In addition, they are close to sign Bryan Mbeumo who will cost the club another £60 million.
Now, United want to sign a new striker. Both Hojlund and Zirkzee have failed to impress at Old Trafford. As a result, the Red Devils are open to sell them. They want a clinical striker and were linked with Ligue 1 Ace. But, they have now ended his pursuit.
The star in question here is Jonathan David of Lille. He is 25 year old Canadian striker who scored 25 goals and picked 12 assists in 49 games last season. Along with striker, he can also play as attacking midfielder. He will be available on free transfer this summer.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, United have ended their pursuit of David. Despite the 25 year old being available for free, they have pulled out from the race. The Red Devils seem to be focusing on a more clinical striker and are ready to spend hefty money on them.
Who can Man United sign as striker instead?
United have Viktor Gyokeres as the top target this summer. But, the 27 year old is also wanted by Arsenal. Earlier, it was said that the Sweden international may prefer a move to North London as they will offer him Champions League football.
United also have Victor Osimhen on their radar. But, the Nigerian is demanding hefty wages due to which it can be difficult to land him. Lastly, they have Hugo Ekitike as one of the targets. But, the French striker will cost €100 million despite being unproven at highest level.
