Two Arsenal women stars bag nomination for top award this season

Two Arsenal players Alessia Russo and Mariona Caldentey have been shortlisted for the prestigious Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Women’s Player of the Year award.

This remarkable recognition came after their outstanding performances throughout the 2024-25 season. The duo played pivotal roles in Arsenal’s successful campaign, culminating in the team’s European title victory over Barcelona last month.

Russo has had a stellar season, netting eight times during Arsenal’s European triumph. She also finished as joint top scorer in the Women’s Super League (WSL) with 12 goals.

Her exceptional performance has undoubtedly earned her a place among the top contenders for the award. Caldentey has also had a standout season, contributing nine goals and five assists in the WSL.

Tullis-Joyce’s impressive performances saw her keep 13 clean sheets in United’s 22 WSL matches.
