Club reach agreement in principle with Bournemouth – New positive talks secure breakthrough

Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement in principle with Bournemouth for defender Ilya Zabarnyi.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri and L’Equipe, who report that the final details on the transfer are being finalised.

Tavolieri reports that Bournemouth and PSG have reached an agreement in place for the 22-year-old, after weeks of negotiations about a transfer. According to his information, the defender will sign a five-year contract in the coming weeks.

L’Equipe offer more information, explaining that PSG and Bournemouth are close to an agreement for Zabarnyi worth around €60m.

The two sides had been working on a deal that would take place before the Club World Cup but those failed. They resumed discussions after that, and they’ve come to a positive conclusion for the Ukrainian defender.

PSG had tried from June 1st to June 10th to get the deal done, initially offering a little more than €50m for the Bournemouth star. That was not enough, with the Cherries demanding a fixed price of more than €70m.

Now it appears they have settled on a figure in between and Zabarnyi is expected to complete a move to the Champions League holders sooner rather than later as a result.
