Man United are showing interest in one Portugese player. He recently helped his country to win UEFA Nations League by playing a vital role.
Manchester United are keen to make some key changes in their squad. They finished the 2024/25 season on a very tough note. The Red Devils ended on 15th position in Premier League. In addition, they lost Europa League final and will miss European football.
Ruben Amorim is not convinced with the quality of the current squad. He is keen to bring in some top players and sell some current ones. The club has already started working on the plans. One area where a new additions seems necessary is goal-keeper position.
Andrea Onana is the current first choice keeper at Old Trafford. But, he has not been able to impress at all ever since joining. He has committed multiple erros which have costed the club. As a result, they can be seen moving on from him.
Man United linked with 25 year old keeper
The star in question here is Diogo Costa. According to Sebastiao Sousa-Pinto, the Red Devils are showing interest in Diogo Costa. The 25 year old currently plays for FC Porto. Ruben Amorim is a huge admirer of Costa and has been showing interest in him since January.
Costa recently helped Portugal to win Nations League. He made a crucial save in the penalty shootouts. He has also been superb for Porto in recent years. Costa kept 16 clean sheets in 32 matches in the 2024/25 season. He conceded only 27 goals throughout the league.
Costa will surely be an upgrade on Onana if he joins. But, the Red Devils will need to empty their pockets to land him. The 25 year old has €75 million release clause. Porto can agree to sell him for less but United can’t expect to lower his price very much due to his age and quality.
