Chelsea are considering whether to table an offer for Brighton’s Joao Pedro, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said the Brazilian’s ability to play in several different roles makes him an ideal target for the Blues:
“Joao Pedro is on the Chelsea list and is appreciated and highly rated by them. They see him as an interesting option because he can cover multiple positions with big potential. He knows the league, a perfect addition to the squad.”
“Nothing advanced yet and no negotiations, but on the list in the offensive positions at Chelsea. It’s something they are considering.”
Chelsea will have competition for the player
Newcastle are believed to have held talks with Pedro’s representatives, while both Arsenal and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in the forward over the past few weeks.

A lot will depend on which team is prepared to match Brighton’s asking price. A fee of around £60m will reportedly be required to secure the 23-year-old’s signature this summer.
Head coach Enzo Maresca is keen on bringing in a new attacking midfielder/forward, with both Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix expected to leave. In addition to Pedro, moves for Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Juventus’s Kenan Yildiz have been considered, while West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus would be another option.
Pedro has fans in the club’s hierarchy
One of the key advocates for buying the Brazilian international is Director of Global Recruitment Sam Jewell. He was head of scouting at Brighton until he moved to Stamford Bridge in April last year.
During his time at the Seagulls, he recommended that the South Coast club sign Pedro from Watford. He has now recommended the forward again to Chelsea.
