Aaron Ramsdale could become West Ham’s new goalkeeper next season.

Graham Potter will almost certainly be disappointed at the lack of transfer activity at the London Stadium, though with pre-season edging closer, the expectation is that things will change soon enough.

West Ham have a lot of work to do on the recruitment front if they are to avoid repeating last season’s failures, and the signing of a new number one could be on the cards.

Southampton ready to sanction Ramsdale exit

The signing of a new striker will almost certainly be the priority for West Ham this summer, though several other areas of their squad will need some attention.

While Areola had a respectable campaign last time out, there is an upgrade to be had on him, and at 32 years old, his value will only deteriorate.

West Ham have previously shown an interest in signing Ramsdale, who, according to the Daily Echo (20 June), could be on the move from Southampton this summer after they stated they wouldn’t stand in the way of his Premier League return.

Of course, whether the Irons pursue a deal or not may hinge on the funds they have available, given the fact they won’t want to blow their budget on a new ‘keeper, when other positions will need to be prioritised first.

Potter needs to be supported this summer

There are already concerns over Potter’s ability to get this team playing at their best, but he will be severely restricted in doing so if he isn’t backed in the transfer window.

With such a lack of activity on the transfer front, fans will be growingly slightly concerned given the fact that they spent the majority of the last campaign staring down the barrel of a possible relegation.

West Ham will be afforded no margin for error when it comes to the decisions they make in the coming weeks and months, with pre-season already looming.
