Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo has been told that he ‘will never look back’ after the Manchester United target made his transfer decision this summer.
Manchester United have begun their summer overhaul following a disappointing campaign, kicking things off with the signing of Matheus Cunha on a five-year contract to strengthen their misfiring attack.
The club then shifted focus to Bryan Mbeumo, who is reportedly keen on a move to Old Trafford despite interest from Newcastle and Tottenham. United submitted an initial offer of £45 million plus £5 million in add-ons, which Brentford turned down.
Although talk of a second bid soon followed, more than two weeks have passed without any developments, leaving some fans uneasy—particularly with new Spurs manager Thomas Frank said to be targeting the Cameroon international.
However, reports now indicate that United are taking a more measured approach, carefully finalizsing a second offer rather than rushing back with repeated bids. Encouragingly, the latest updates suggest negotiations with Brentford have recently made notable progress.
United icon tells Mbeumo he’ll never look back
It has been clear that Mbeumo’s first choice is Old Trafford for several weeks now and United icon Lee Sharpe has explained how it will be a ‘really tough decision’ for the player.
Sharpe explains how a move to Spurs, alongside his long-term manager Frank, would potentially be an easier move. But the former winger says that the chance to play for United doesn’t come along often.
He also believes that Mbeumo ‘will never look back’ if he can be part of a successful rebuild at the Theatre of Dreams in the coming years.
“It will be a really tough decision for Mbeumo. To go to Tottenham, playing in the Champions League with the manager you have been playing under and trusts you, knows your game and personality which makes the transition a lot easier,” Sharpe told Aceodds.com.
“But there is only one Manchester United and the opportunity to play for Manchester United doesn’t come along many times in your career, and maybe even not at all.
“I understand that Tottenham are playing in Europe, and might seem like a better option to him, with a manager he knows. But I think that if he can be a part of this rebuild and do well, he will never look back.”
Amorim wants Mbeumo done soon
While United are taking their time to actually get a deal over the line, Amorim will want Mbeumo in the building sooner rather than later.
The latest reports from The Mirror have suggested that the United boss is growing slightly frustrated that only one deal has been completed so far.

He wants to have a significant amount of business done by the time the club head out on their pre-season tour of the United States.
The Reds return to Carrington in around two weeks’ time and will then be travelling on tour in mid July. There is still time to get a couple more deals done but United need to start selling players too.
